Newcastle Coffee Snobs

Newcastle Coffee Snobs A coming together of people who don't settle for average coffee (aka coffee snobs) in Newcastle. We meet at local cafes to try every coffee in town

Ever scrunched your nose up slightly at a bitter lukewarm coffee or walked past 3 cafes to get to your favourite and been called a "Coffee Snob"? In Newcastle Coffee Snobs thatโ€™s okay. We are a friendly group of coffee lovers who meet regularly to try out new coffee haunts and to get coffee snobs out of that rut of refusing to try something new. Whether it be back street cafes, a cart at the marke

ts, something posh or little eateries by the waterโ€ฆyou name it we'll snob it! We have a strong focus on nuturing new cafes and so every snob is mostly at a cafe which has opened in Newcastle within the last 12 months. It's also a social get together of like-minded locals in a safe environment where people appreciate your discerning nose. No experience or fancy coffee tasting master class needed just a clean palette, a few bucks to buy your coffee and a sense of adventure. Had a nice espresso somewhere in Newcastle? Share it with us in a message on our wall and a picture tell us what you like about it. All "constructive feedback" on cafes needs to be tastefully written. We are for the development of a vibrant inclusive lifestyle in Newcastle and would not seek to bad name any business here. Thank you and welcome,

Hey google! Any chance you could could remove star ratings 2, 3 and 4 from your review section?

Weโ€™ve been noticing for a while that reviews are basically 1 ๐ŸŒŸor 5 ๐ŸŒŸ. Why is this? Well as we see it, customers of businesses are either stoked on what the business did and want to say thanks with a cheeky 5 ๐ŸŒŸ, or they feel the need to give business a red hot flaming 1 ๐ŸŒŸ

To those that give businesses a 5 ๐ŸŒŸ review for their good work, we commend you! If a business does great work and gives you good service, you should absolutely help them out with a nice review and recommend it to others. We arenโ€™t just saying give out 5 ๐ŸŒŸ bogus ratings, but if people do a good job, help them out!

Now to the 1 ๐ŸŒŸ gang. In our experience most of these reviews are pretty harsh reviews and often not worthy of 1 ๐ŸŒŸNormally the situation may not have went exactly how the customer wanted, but the business has tried to help and resolve the situation as best as possible, but still cop a 1 ๐ŸŒŸ. The people that work in businesses are human and mistakes happen, thatโ€™s life. But itโ€™s how these things are dealt with after the mistake is the real service. In most occasions, these bad interactions should be a 2 or three ๐ŸŒŸ review at worst, but this is never the case, itโ€™s almost always a 1 ๐ŸŒŸ.

As everyone knows, things are pretty hard at the moment, industries such as hospitality are on the coal face and copping it left right and centre. We are trying our best to serve people, but sometimes s**t goes sideways and mistakes happen. So if this happens, please donโ€™t take to reviews to smoke a small business for a minor issue, itโ€™s probably not the best course of action. Go see them and chat about what happened and they might be able to install practices to improve the interaction for future customers.

So if your local cafe staff are rockstars, give them some love on social media / google. Also tell them how much you appreciate them next time you see them, good chance itโ€™ll make them smile. Finding good hospitality staff is bloody hard currently and we need to look after the ones we have. If we donโ€™t have them, thereโ€™s no one making your morning coffee.

Much love

Chris @ Josie Coffee

Any Newcastle cafes open for a lazy lunch after 1pm on a Saturday? No judgement on those that arenโ€™t itโ€™s just hard to find pages with accurate trading hours nowadays. Take care everyone and donโ€™t forget to keep doing the COVID 3 1. Hand hygiene 2. Physical distancing 3. Cough and sneeze etiquette
