CALLING ALL FEMALE HAIRDRESSERS, BEAUTICIANS & BEAUTY BUSINESSES 💜

On Friday 14th August, we'll be holding an event called 'She Matters' ... a ladies-only pamper day at Transit for women in our community who are doing it tough.

The day is about so much more than a haircut or a manicure. It's about creating a space where women feel seen, cared for and connected. Alongside a little pampering, they'll have the opportunity to meet support services, build friendships and simply enjoy a few hours where they know they matter.

Where? Transit Soup Kitchen, 5/3 Webb St, Narre Warren
When? Friday 14th August
Time? 10:00am – 2:00pm

We're looking for female volunteers who can help make the day special...

* Hairdressers – haircuts and trims (no colours), with your own tools.

* Beauticians / Nail Technicians – simple manicures, nail care or other pampering.

* Child care - ladies who would love to help entertain any children with crafts (Mum within view) while she gets some much needed R&R.

🎁 Beauty companies or anyone with industry contacts – we'd love donations of self-care products for ladies to take home as a gift. Things like shampoo, conditioner, moisturiser, skincare, makeup, brushes, body wash or other pamper items would make a huge difference. All items must be new.

If you think you could help, or know someone who might, we'd love to hear from you.
All volunteers must have a valid Working with Children Check.

Please email Philippa at [email protected]

And if you can't help this time, sharing this post might help us find someone who can. 💜

Thank you to the City of Casey for supporting this event!

Looking for something to do on Saturday?

Why not head along to the Pakenham Antique Fair at the Cardinia Cultural Centre! Entry is just $10, and you'll be supporting a great cause while enjoying a fantastic day browsing antiques, collectables and unique treasures.

We're incredibly grateful that $4,750 from the day's profits will be donated to provide the new ceiling for Transit's Shed Renovation project. Even better, Casey Rotary will be matching that amount dollar for dollar, meaning a total of $9,500 will go towards expanding our food relief facilities.

It's a wonderful opportunity to enjoy a great day out while helping build a stronger future for food relief in our community.

Thank you to the Rotary Club of Casey for your incredible generosity. We hope to see lots of familiar faces there!

Just turn up on the day, or you can skip the queue and book your tickets here; www.cardiniaculturalcentre.com.au/community/pakenham-antique-collectible-fair/

On cold nights like this, ‘thank you’ just doesn’t feel enough.

Rain, hail or shine, Zoran is there.

Six days a week, this incredible man quietly goes about driving all over Melbourne’s South East (often much further!) collecting the food that keeps Transit running. It’s a job few people see, but one that makes everything we do possible.

Nothing is ever too much trouble, and we couldn’t be more appreciative.

To our amazing Zoran - thank you. Your kindness, dedication and selfless heart mean more than words can say. We simply couldn’t do this without you 💙

Conversations That Count...

It was lovely to welcome Jess Wilson MP, Leader of the Opposition; as well as Brad Battin MP, Ann-Marie Hermans MP, Norliah Syer-Peterson and Phillip Pease - Liberal for South Eastern Metropolitan Region to Transit this week.

We had some great conversations around the growing needs in our community and the impact of our Beyond the Meal model.

Food relief is essential, but it shouldn’t be the destination. Transit’s Beyond the Meal model is about helping people move beyond crisis by connecting them with the support they need to get back on their feet - in a place they already know and trust.

This week’s rail disruptions also highlighted just how important public transport is to so many of our guests, with noticeably fewer people able to attend our grocery service - making the difference between families receiving food support this week or going without.

We appreciate everyone taking the time to visit, listen and take an active interest in our community.

We look forward to continuing to work with people from all sides of politics to advocate for those doing it hardest across our community.

We had some great conversations about the growing needs in our community and the proven impact of our 'Beyond the Meal' model.

We look forward to continuing to work with people from all sides of politics to strengthen support for those most vulnerable in our community.

Thank you again Jess Wilson MP for you hard work and advocacy!

Can you help?

We're running low on reusable shopping bags at Transit!

Every week we help around 1,700 people with groceries, and sturdy shopping bags are always in high demand.

If you have any clean, reusable shopping bags you'd be happy to donate, we'd love to give them a second life helping local families.

Bags can be dropped off at Transit during our opening hours (Monday 11am - 7pm, Wednesday 9am - 3pm and Thursday 9am - 4pm).

Thank you for helping us care for our community...one bag at a time.

Another big day in our Together We Build food relief expansion project!
Today, the driveway to our new food storage hub took shape as 120 tonnes of crushed rock was delivered.
A huge thank you to Josh and the team at City Circle Group, who donated the crushed rock entirely free of charge.
Their generosity is helping turn this vision into reality. Every donation of materials, labour and expertise means more of our resources can go directly towards supporting people in our community who are doing it tough.
We’re so grateful for businesses like City Circle Group that don’t hesitate to get behind projects that make a lasting difference.
Thank you for investing in Transit and helping us build the capacity to rescue more food, reduce waste, and serve even more families in the years ahead.
