To everyone who has supported this page over the years... thank you ❤️

Sometimes I stop and look back at where this journey began, and it's hard to believe how much has changed 🙏

This page has never simply been about social media. It has been a reflection of my own mental health journey ❤

After my su***de attempt in 2018, I didn't know what my future looked like. I only knew that if I survived, I wanted my pain to mean something 🙏

That journey led to 'TrueFace' - a dream of creating a social media platform where people living with depression, anxiety, PTSD, suicidal thoughts, postnatal depression, body image challenges, addictions, and other mental health struggles could connect without fear of judgement. Although TrueFace never became what I imagined, it taught me something incredibly important...

🌻 People don't need perfection
🌻 People need connection
🌻 People need kindness
🌻 People need to know they aren't alone

That dream evolved into 'The Mind Cafe', then 'The Mind Cafe Community', where thousands of conversations, friendships, tears, laughs, coffees, hugs and moments of hope were shared ❤

Today, that journey continues through 'Be Kind Projects' ❤❤

The names have changed over the years, but the purpose never has🙏

🌻 To help people feel seen
🌻 To remind people they matter
🌻 To encourage kindness

Encouraging kindness as not as something we occasionally do, but as something we choose to become ❤

None of this would have been possible without you ❤🙏❤

Whether you've followed this page from the beginning... attended a group... shared a post... volunteered... donated... offered encouragement... or simply read something quietly when you needed it most... Thank you 🙏

You've reminded me, time and time again, that even during life's darkest moments, there are extraordinary people who continue choosing kindness ❤

I still have difficult days. My mental health journey didn't magically end. But because of this community, I've learned something beautiful 'Hope doesn't always arrive as a grand moment' 🙏

Sometimes it arrives as a comment... a message... a hug... a coffee... or simply someone saying, "I'm here." Thank you for walking this journey with me ❤❤❤

Here's to continuing to build a world where kindness is ordinary, where vulnerability is welcomed, and where nobody feels they have to face life alone 💪

From the bottom of my heart...

Thank you
❤️ Guy

PS. If you see this post and you're not tagged but loved (I tried but for some reason I couldn't. You all know who you are ❤

To The Mind Cafe family,

Many of you have reached out asking how Ana and I are going 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

To be honest, it has been an incredibly difficult period 😥

As many of you know, The Mind Cafe was never just a café to us. It was built from lived experience, community, hope, and a belief that nobody should have to struggle alone ❤️

Following the recent liquidation of Not Just a Cafe PTY LTD, we are currently working through a number of matters involving property ownership, historical records, and the future of ideas and projects that were developed through The Mind Cafe over many years.

We are cooperating fully with the liquidator and are compiling documentation, photographs, social media records, receipts and other evidence relating to assets and intellectual property associated with our time operating The Mind Cafe.

We have also become aware of information suggesting that some items may no longer be at the premises, and we are currently seeking clarification regarding the location and status of those items.

At this stage, we are focused on facts, evidence and transparency.

We are not seeking conflict. We are simply seeking accountability and a fair process.

If any member of our community has experience in insolvency, employment matters, charity governance, intellectual property, asset recovery, or related legal fields, we would greatly appreciate a private conversation.

Most importantly, thank you ❤️🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻❤️

Many of you stood beside us through some of the hardest moments of our lives. Your support carried us through my mental health challenges, Ana's sacrifices, the growth of The Mind Cafe, and the work that ultimately led to our Westfield Local Heroes Award 🙏🏻

Whatever happens next, that kindness can never be liquidated ❤️

With gratitude, love and kindness,
Guy & Ana ❤️

An Update from Guy ❤️

I feel it is important to share an update with our community, as many people still associate me and Ana with The Mind Cafe 🙏🏻

When Ana and I stepped away from the cafe, we did so with the hope that our purpose we had spent years building would continue. We received no financial benefit from the transition. At the time, I was facing bankruptcy, struggling with my mental health and eventually moving onto the Disability Support Pension. Despite these challenges, what mattered most to us was preserving the spirit and purpose of the community ❤️

One of our understandings was that Ana would continue to be involved. When we later learned that Ana's employment had come to an end, it became clear that the future direction of the cafe was no longer something we could influence or support 😔

Over time, we also felt increasingly disconnected from decisions being made. We tried to offer support, share knowledge and help where we could, but our involvement gradually diminished 😞

As a result, we made the difficult decision to ask that our identity, community reputation and our purpose we had built not continue to be represented as being connected to us. We simply could not take responsibility for a direction we no longer had any ability to guide 🙏🏻

My hope in sharing this is not to create division or criticism of anyone. Rather, it is to help our community understand why Ana and I are no longer involved 😞

The Mind Cafe was built through the kindness, generosity and support of countless people. Our community, our volunteers, our donors, friends and supporters all played a part in creating something special. For that, I I'll always be grateful 🙏🏻

While this chapter has been difficult, I remain committed to the values that inspired The Mind Cafe from the beginning: kindness, connection, empathy, compassion and supporting people through life's challenges ❤️

Thank you for your understanding and for the support you have shown Ana and me over the years. It has meant more than you'll ever know 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

There was a night I truly believed the world would be better without me 😔

This photo was taken just hours before I would try to take my own life 🥺

What many people don’t realise is that suicidal thoughts are not always loud. Sometimes they hide behind smiles, humour, silence, tiredness or people saying “I’m okay” when they really aren’t 😥

One thing I’ve learned is this...
You do not always need the perfect words to help someone stay alive ❤️

Sometimes, it’s simply sending a message with zero expectations and doing it every day.

It could be sending a simple...
🎗️ “Thinking of you" SMS
🎗️ A funny meme.
🎗️ A message saying: “No pressure to reply. Just wanted you to know you matter.”

And keep on going (it's a minute a day) and, remember, kindness should not be transactional.

Sometimes people disappear into themselves because life is just too difficult to face, but know that the gentle consistency of your messages have the power to save a life.

Please don’t underestimate the power of:
❤️ Checking in
❤️ Sitting beside someone
❤️ Listening without fixing
❤️ Staying kind even when someone goes quiet

And please…
Don’t give up on people just because they struggle to respond 🙏🏻

Some people are fighting battles silently while trying their hardest simply to make it through the day 😔

If you believe someone may be struggling, reach out.
Not to save them.
Not to be a hero.
Just to remind them they are not alone.
❤️

D E P R E S S I O N R E A L I T Y 😞

Some nights, when the world finally goes quiet, I lie there hoping I don’t wake up tomorrow 😞

Not because I want to hurt myself.
Not because I hate life.
But because sometimes being tired isn’t just physical, it’s emotional, mental and invisible 🙏🏻

And I know I’m probably not the only one who has ever felt that way. The strange thing about being human is that we can carry sadness and hope at the same time ❤️

We can feel exhausted while still wanting others to smile.
We can struggle quietly while still choosing kindness ❤️

So, if you’re someone carrying heavy thoughts tonight, I just want you to know this:
🌟 You don’t have to have everything figured out to deserve tomorrow.
🌟 You don’t have to feel strong every day to have value.
🌟 Sometimes simply making it through the night is enough.

Maybe healing doesn’t always begin with happiness. Maybe sometimes it begins with honesty, rest, kindness and one more sunrise 🙏🏻

Please be gentle with yourself tonight ❤️

KINDNESS (for Guy) is a wonderful way to live by ❤️

Kindness is an integral part of Guy's essence and this is why he wrote 'Kindnesses To Live By' ☺️

This little book was created from a simple place, a belief that kindness matters. Not as something special, but as something human 🙏🏻

We're excited to tell you all that the hard copy is now available at The Mind Cafe - Not Just a Cafe in Narrabeen ❤️

The digital is available on Amazon - https://amzn.asia/d/00uLmmNK 🙏🏻

"Living with mental health challenges means I don't always show up in the world the way I’d like to. Most times, being out in the world feels overwhelming. Most times, home is where I feel safest 🙏🏻

But I believe kindness can still be lived...
❤️ Through words.
❤️ Through ideas.
❤️ Through small projects that bring people together.
This book is one of those ways.

I really hope you enjoy this little book and 'way of life', just the way I hope we all can - living by KINDNESS ❤️"

Guy Morel - Author ☺️

Message us if you would like us to organise posting a copy to you ❤️🙏🏻❤️

Thoughts of S U I C I D E 💔

Content Note:
This post speaks about suicidal thoughts and mental health. Please take care while reading. If this feels too close to home, it’s okay to step away and reach out to someone you trust 🙏🏻

There are moments where my mind drifts to thoughts of not wanting to be here anymore and something I’ve come to notice…

In these moments, my body sometimes feels calm.
Like everything goes quiet for a second.
Like there’s an escape from the overwhelm.
But then, something else gently returns...

In the past week, I visited my best friend Grant in Brisbane. This time away is a reminder of what it feels like to be safe with someone. To spend time with a person I trust deeply, where I don’t have to filter myself. Where I can speak freely, be completely me, even stim without fear of being judged ❤️

Then I remember the simple things too…
A coffee at a café ☕
A small moment of peace 😌
A reminder that life isn’t always heavy 🥰

Trust doesn’t come easily to me. I hold it close, and only a few people truly sit in that space. Ana, my best friends, Felicity, Thomas and John from The Mind Cafe, and a small circle that I’m grateful for 🙏🏻

And I’ve spent a lot of time reflecting on why I am the way I am. Not as an excuse, but as understanding 😔

Experiences shape us. Abandonment, childhood pain, moments where safety didn’t feel certain. They leave an imprint 😔

But understanding those parts of ourselves isn’t about staying stuck in them. It’s about meeting ourselves with a little more compassion ❤️

If you’re reading this and you feel something similar, you’re not alone. Even in the moments where things feel quiet in the wrong way, there can still be gentle, real moments waiting for you too 🙏🏻

If you’re struggling right now:
Please reach out to someone you trust.
Give Lifeline Australia a call on 13 11 14 (24/7).
You deserve support, and you don’t have to carry this alone 🙏🏻

Helping Others Isn’t a Superpower. It’s Who We Are ❤️

Sometimes we think helping others is something extraordinary… Something only certain people do.
But the truth is, it’s something deeply human 🙏🏻

We’re wired for connection.
We feel it when someone is struggling.
We notice when someone needs a hand, a kind word or just someone to sit beside them ❤️

Helping others isn’t about being a hero...
It’s about being human 🙏🏻

And the most powerful kind of help?
The kind given with no expectation 💞
No need for recognition 💫
No quiet hope of something in return 💖

Just kindness… for the sake of kindness ❤️

Because when we help without expectation, something beautiful happens! We free the act from our ego and it becomes something pure and from the heart ❤️

Not a transaction.
Not a trade.
Just one human being showing up for another 🤗

What This Teaches Us:
💫 Helping others is part of our nature, not a special talent
💫 Kindness doesn’t need an audience
💫 The smallest act can mean everything to someone
💫 When we give freely, we grow quietly

So today, maybe we help a little more…
Not because we have to, but because it’s simply who we are 🙏🏻

Today is World Autism Awareness Day 💙

A gentle reminder that being different is not something to fix… it’s something to understand, respect and celebrate 💙

People on the autism spectrum often see the world in ways many of us don’t. There’s a purity in their honesty, a depth in their focus, and a way of being that isn’t shaped by hidden agendas or social masks 💙

Sometimes they may come across as different… but maybe “different” is just another word for beautifully authentic 💙

What if, instead of asking them to fit into our world, we learned to appreciate theirs? 💙

Today isn’t just about awareness… it’s about acceptance, kindness, and creating a space where everyone feels they belong 💙

Let’s celebrate minds that think differently 💙
Hearts that love honestly 💙
And people who remind us what it means to be real 💙
