💜 Boxes of Love – Supporting Mothers and Newborns in Our Community 💜

Every mother and newborn deserves to feel safe, supported and cared for during those precious first days of life.

The Zonta Club of Mt Barker is helping make a difference through its Boxes of Love initiative, providing baby boxes to Mt Barker Hospital for women and their newborns who may be experiencing financial hardship or coming from a domestic and family violence background.

Each box contains practical essentials for a new baby, including newborn clothing, nappies and hygiene products — small necessities that can make a very meaningful difference to a family going through a difficult time.

The initiative is about more than a box of baby items. It is a reminder to mothers that their community cares, they are not alone, and support is available when they need it most. 💜
Zonta Mt Barker is proud to support women and girls in our community and to contribute to a safer, more caring start for newborn babies.

Bunnings Sausage Sizzle

The Zonta Club of Mt Barker has had a busy few weeks. On Saturday, the club held our latest Bunnings Sausage Sizzle.

Our fantastic members and volunteers enjoyed a busy day of cooking, serving and catching up with the local community. 50 kilograms of sausages later, we had some exhausted helpers.

We loved seeing so many familiar faces — and meeting new ones — throughout the day.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who stopped by for a sausage, had a chat and supported our fundraising.

Your generosity helps us continue our work supporting women and girls in our community.

And, of course, a big thank you to Bunnings for their ongoing support and to our wonderful volunteers who made the day such a success!

Zonta Club of Mt Barker Quiz Night – Fun, Friendship and Fundraising

The Zonta Club of Mt Barker recently held a very successful Quiz Night at the Mt Barker Town Hall, bringing together friends, families and supporters from across the community for an evening of fun, laughter and friendly competition.

The evening included a raffle, silent auction and w**e wall, all helping to raise valuable funds for the work of the Zonta Club of Mt Barker.

Zonta is an international organisation of women working together to advance the status of women and girls. Locally, the Mt Barker club supports a range of community initiatives and projects that make a difference to women, children and families across Mt Barker and the surrounding Hills community.

The Quiz Night was also a wonderful opportunity to bring people together and raise awareness of the work Zonta undertakes both locally and internationally.

The club would like to thank everyone who attended, donated prizes, supported the fundraising activities or helped behind the scenes. Events such as this are only possible because of the generosity and enthusiasm of our local community.

The success of the evening has once again demonstrated what can be achieved when our community comes together — with a little competition, plenty of laughter and a good cause at the heart of it all.

The Zonta Club of Mt Barker looks forward to continuing its work in the local community and welcomes the support of everyone who shares our commitment to making a difference.

Zonta International Convention 2026 in Vancouver, Canada

A busy few days at the Zonta Convention:

* Saturday morning - a walk along the Vancouver Seawall supporting and highlighting Zonta Says Now and the concerns Zonta has about our climate. Photo shows members of the Zonta Club of Adelaide in teal the colour of Zonta Says Now

* Saturday after the walk - were Networking sessions with choices of workshops. This was followed by Breakthrough sessions with more workshops.

* After the meetings - I was fortunate that I was part of a First Timers Meet and Greet. One of our activities was to meet someone from each continent. Being Australian was a real plus as I was one of the few Aussies, many others had been to the Brisbane Convention. So met lots of Zontians from everywhere.

* Evening - Dinners were organised at Grouse Mountain and the Vancouver Aquarium for those interested.

A special thank you from the Zonta Club of Mt Barker to Baker's Delight Mt Barker for their generous donation of bread rolls for the Mt Barker Mount Barker District Council Fiery Friday evening where Zonta sold cups of soup.
The donation and money raised during the evening will fund many programs supporting women and girls in our local area.

Last Friday, the Mt Barker Council’s Fiery Friday event was postponed due to inclement weather. The new date is Friday 3rd July and the Zonta Club of Mt Barker will be serving home made soup ( Pumpkin, Pea and Ham and Minestrone )with a bread roll to keep you warm.
Looking forward to seeing you at this amazing event.

Proceeds will support our projects such as Birthing Kits, Breast Care Cushions, Baby Boxes for mums in need at the Mt Barker Hospital, the Healthy Newborn Ultrasound Project, supporting the food workshops for the MB Vocational College and Centacare to name a few.
