Every jar starts here. Real fruit, slow cooked, and made in small batches because good things are worth taking the time for.

A little reminder that behind every small business is a real person, with a real life that doesn’t always go according to plan.

This morning I had to make the difficult decision to cancel a market at the last minute after my dog became unwell. What started as a bite had become infected and septic, and he needed veterinary care.

Thankfully, he’s okay and is now home with antibiotics, lots of rest and probably far more sympathy than he deserves. 😂

But it got me thinking about the reality of running a small business.

When you’re a small business owner, there often isn’t someone else who can step in when life happens. If I can’t attend a market, Lovett Homestead doesn’t attend. There’s no replacement staff member to call, no one else to load the car, set up the stall or stand behind the table.

There are also ingredients already purchased, products prepared, market fees paid, hours of work behind the scenes and income you were relying on that day.

Sometimes you have to make a decision that is absolutely the right one, while still knowing it will have an impact on your business.

Today, my dog needed me more than my business did.

I’m incredibly grateful for the understanding I received this morning, and for everyone who continues to support Lovett Homestead — whether you purchase something, visit me at a market, share a post, recommend my business or simply follow along.

Small businesses are built around real lives. Sometimes things go wrong, plans change and we have to choose what matters most in that moment.

Today, that meant staying home with my four-legged idiot. 🐾🤍

He’s going to be okay, and Lovett Homestead will be back at the next one.

✨ A little sweetness for a little girl on the way. ✨

It was such a joy creating these baby shower cupcakes with Kate Rhianna Thomas, filled with soft pinks, delicate bows, sleepy bunnies and all the little details that make celebrating new life so special.

One of my favourite things about custom orders is bringing someone’s vision to life and creating desserts that become part of the memories.

Congratulations to the beautiful mum-to-be. I hope your day is filled with love, laughter and plenty of sweet moments. 🤍

If you’re planning a baby shower, birthday or special celebration, I’d love to create something unique for your table.

💌 Enquiries are always welcome.

A productive day in the Homestead kitchen! 🤍

Today looked a little like this…

🍯 100 Honey Joys
🍪 150 cookie dough balls rolled and ready
🍋 9 jars of homemade lemon butter

Some days are all about testing recipes, some days are about prep, and some days are about filling the freezer and pantry ready for upcoming markets.

Every batch gets me one step closer to my upcoming NAIDOC markets, and I honestly can’t wait to share everything I’ve been working on with you all.

Thanks for following along on this little journey. Watching Lovett Homestead grow from an idea into something real has been pretty special.

✨ From Mob Melts to Lovett Homestead ✨

Yesterday was a special milestone for me.

Many of you know me through Mob Melts. Over the years I’ve attended markets, poured candles, packed orders and learnt so much about running a small business.

But yesterday felt different.

Yesterday was the first market where I introduced something new: desserts.

Lovett Homestead was never meant to be just one thing. It was always about creating products that bring people together. Sometimes that’s through the warmth of a candle burning in someone’s home. Sometimes it’s through sharing cupcakes, cookies and desserts around a table with family, friends and community.

This market felt like the beginning of that next chapter.

The candles aren’t going anywhere. They’re still a huge part of what I do and what I love. But now they’re joined by another passion that’s been part of my life for just as long: baking.

Thank you to everyone who has supported me through the Mob Melts journey and now into Lovett Homestead. Watching an idea evolve into something bigger is equal parts exciting and terrifying, but I’m grateful you’re all here for the ride.

Here’s to creating beautiful things, sharing good food, and building something meaningful one step at a time. 🤍

This Sunday I’ll be at DARDI Market with a selection of homemade desserts and treats 🤍

Everything is made from scratch and baked by me, including my brown butter chocolate chip cookies, warm winter desserts and NAIDOC cupcake duos.

If you’re coming along, pop over and say hello. I’ll also be taking enquiries for NAIDOC Week orders.

See you Sunday 🤍
