What you’re looking at is the result of years of careful restoration, maintenance and dedication from the volunteers at the Ballarat Tramway Museum.

These beautiful historic trams only exist today because of the countless hours those volunteers give to meticulously restoring and preserving them for future generations.

When we run High Tea aboard Cuthbert’s 939, we’re not just serving food and drinks — we’re helping keep a small piece of Melbourne and Ballarat’s transport history alive.

Guests enjoy a selection of locally made sweet and savoury treats, traditional High Tea favourites, and a bottomless selection of beverages while travelling aboard a fully restored 1940s tram.

It’s a unique experience, and one we’re very proud to share with the community.

And sometimes, all it takes is a simple photo before the doors open to remind us how special this little tram really is.

Your journey begins with the aroma of freshly baked scones, made in-house on the day of your ride. Once seated in the tram’s plush red seats, surrounded by polished timber and gleaming brass fittings, you’ll be served a plate of warm scones and your choice from our selection of drinks, followed by a beautifully presented three-tier tower of savoury bites and sweet treats — all baked fresh in-house for every departure. Premium tea and coffee will be poured throughout the ride, as the tram glides gently around Lake Wendouree, along the city’s historic tramway route.
