We’re back tomorrow from 8am and we can’t wait to see you!

The smoker is on and our brisket is slowly cooking away, ready to be sliced fresh tomorrow. Think tender, smoky, melt in your mouth beef with that beautiful dark bark and all the flavour that comes from hours in the smoker.

Whether you’re joining us for breakfast, popping in for lunch or grabbing dinner, we’ll be here serving up all your favourites.

🔥 EVEN SMOKERS NEED A BREAK! 🔥

We love feeding you, but even the Hook & Ember crew needs to put the tongs down, kick the boots off and take a little time to rest!

We’ll be taking a short break from Thursday 10th September, and we’ll be back firing things up on Thursday 17th September.

A huge THANK YOU to all our loyal customers for continuing to show up, order our food, tell your mates about us and keep supporting this little smokehouse. We genuinely appreciate every single one of you.

We might be shut Tuesdays and Wednesdays, but that doesn’t stop people thinking about the good food they’ve eaten, nor does it stop them from leaving us a raving review.

And THIS review? Well, it gave us all the feels.

A born-and-bred South Carolina local stopped in for a quick bite after a day at the river and spotted our American-style menu. Naturally, the chili cheese fries had to be tested.

There was just one problem… no veggie chili.

So we listened.

The following week, they came back — and our owner had added a veggie chili option: bean medley, corn, veggies and spices.

The verdict?

“It tastes JUST like my grandmother’s recipe.”

🥹🥹🥹

Then came the mac & cheese sample, which apparently was the best mac & cheese across the Pacific, followed by our honey butter cornbread to finish the meal.

Honestly, this is why we do what we do.

It’s not just about serving food. It’s about listening to our customers, trying new things, sharing good food and creating a place that feels a little bit like home; wherever home might be.

Thank you for taking the time to leave such a beautiful review. We’re so glad Hook & Ember could bring a little taste of South Carolina to Kiama Downs.
