Some gifts echo across generations.
Yesterday, Barwon Health Foundation was proud to gather friends and supporters from across our community for a special event celebrating the Malloy Society -a remarkable group of people who have chosen to leave a bequest or major gift to the Foundation in support of Barwon Health.
The Society is named in honour of Tim Malloy, a remarkable man who, in 1849, made the very first bequest to the Geelong Hospital. An extraordinary act of generosity that helped to establish the first ever hospital in Geelong, a legacy that helped shape healthcare in our region.
Guests enjoyed a high tea by Truffleduck alongside inspiring presentations from Zoe Waters (Executive Director, Barwon Health Foundation), Catherine Middlemiss (Barwon Women’s & Children’s Appeal Director), Associate Professor David Fuller (Associate Professor David Fuller, Paediatrician & Clinical Director, Barwon Health), and Jack Ayerbe (Chair, Malloy Society). Speakers shared updates from the Barwon Health Foundation, introduced the Barwon Women’s & Children’s Appeal, reflected on Tim Malloy's remarkable story, and highlighted the meaningful impact of legacy giving on local healthcare.
To everyone who has followed in Tim's footsteps, thank you. Your foresight is shaping the future of healthcare in our region.
