THROWBACK
How the day began 1 July 2013….
Holy crap, one of the biggest days in our lives!
Sunday 30th June 2013 5pm Frank called and asked us to go to the roastery. He had done a stocktake over the weekend and decided he was leaving - immediately! We were taking over TasCaffe the very next morning without notice - we didn’t have finance approved, no bank accounts….
There wasn’t enough coffee roasted to get past the end of the week, there was barely enough green beans to roast for next week. Place was a mess. Frank was gone. Talk about being thrown in the deep end!!!!
Job #1 make a front counter for customers to buy coffee at: here’s a work bench - it’s a good start!
Job #2 get Dave out on deliveries.
Jog #3 figure it out quickly because we just took over TasCaffe!!!!
Here we are 13 years later; still winging it! Dave is still out on the road doing deliveries, quite a few things have changed - for the better, and many of our core customers who were with us that day are still with us all these years later, so we must be doing something right!
Old man Nick is still about on a regular basis and helps out with lots of jobs in the workshop and on site.
Frank helps out when we have particularly tricky problems to solve, but Nick and Wendy don’t let him out very often 🤪🤪🤪
Wendy is still a delightful chatterbox and looks fabulous! Though limited physically now in her 80’s she’s still going strong.
