I made a commitment to myself that in 2026, I would say yes to more opportunities.
After years of having to say no to so many things while running a hospitality business, I think Iāve developed a real determination to make up for all the things I felt I missed out on.
But saying yes more often has also meant operating at a pace that is starting to test my resilience- and those around me!
Still, Iām being kept motivated by the incredible experiences Iāve had the privilege to be part of.
Recently, I had the honour of sharing my dahlia story, From Novice to Nimble, at the Australian Dahlia Conference.
One of the most meaningful things about that experience was realising how many of us in the room are wired the same way. We donāt just want to own beautiful thingsāwe want to create beautiful things. And while our journeys may look different, theyāre often built on the same foundations: curiosity, persistence, failure, growth, and community.
I was overwhelmed by the outpouring of kindness and support I received after the presentation.
Sharing my story is a privilege, but itās also a powerful reminder that Iāve never done any of this alone.
Iāve always had a community of family, friends, and mentors cheering me onāencouraging me, guiding me, and believing in me.
And, of course, a āsilent partnerā who consistently pulls far more than his weight. And a not so silent cheer squad with Leafy and Dan my movers, shakers and project makers.
For all of it, Iām deeply grateful.
Weāre off to Gunnedah this weekend as Allan judges a chook show⦠apparently weāre redefining what ābusyā looks like in 2026. š
