Father’s Day, Birre style. 💛

We’re kicking things off with our Birre Benni — our take on the classic Eggs Benedict and a very fine way to start Father’s Day.

And if Dad’s more of a lunch man, we have a few Father’s Day lunch specials coming out of the kitchen too, alongside our regular menu.

Good food, good coffee, perhaps a glass of something nice — and no cooking or washing up required.

🇮🇹 ITALIAN NIGHT AT THE GROCER 🇮🇹

This Friday we’re settling in for a night of proper Italian comfort food — slow-cooked osso buco with creamy polenta, golden pork and chicken cotoletta, house-made gnocchi, and a rich seafood spaghetti marinara.

Just the thing for a cool Birregurra evening. Add a glass of red and perhaps a tiramisu to finish… 🍷

THIS FRIDAY — WE'RE KEEPING IT SIMPLE.

After travelling around the world with our Friday Nights, this week we're bringing things right back to the classics.

A beautifully cooked steak & crispy chips, with your choice of sauce — pepper, mushroom and a few favourites from the kitchen.

Or there's Amanda's famous Chicken Parmi (and yes, we know some of you come specifically for this one! 😂), a golden Chicken Schnitzel & Chips, or Eggplant Parmi & Chips for our vegetarian friends.

Nothing complicated.

Just generous, delicious food, a glass of something good and a relaxed Friday night at the Grocer.

🇫🇷 FRENCH BISTRO — THIS FRIDAY

Our French Bistro returns this Friday, and we're embracing everything we love about French winter cooking.

Start with a Charcuterie Board to share or a warming bowl of Celeriac & Dijon Mustard Soup, then settle in for the classics — Beef Bourguignon with creamy mash, Coq au Vin, Duck Confit with cotechino & Lentils de Puy, or Moules Marinières with crusty baguette.

And for something lighter, Leek & Gruyère Tarts with Provençal paste and a fresh side salad.

Add French green salad, green beans with toasted almonds & burnt butter, braised leeks or a bowl of fries for the table.

Then, because it wouldn't be a French Bistro night without dessert — Opera Cake, Apple Tarte Tatin or French Lemon Tart.

🇭🇺 A TASTE OF HUNGARY — THIS FRIDAY

This week's Friday Night at the Grocer comes by special request from one of our locals, whose grandparents were Hungarian — and we couldn't resist!

So we're heading to Hungary for a warming winter feast of rich paprika, slow-braised meats and traditional Hungarian comfort food.

On the menu you'll find Central European hand-cured & smoked meats with pickles, crispy Pork Schnitzel with Hungarian potato salad, Paprika Chicken in a velvety sour cream sauce, slow-braised Beef Goulash with nokedli, and Túrós Csusza — traditional Hungarian pasta with creamy quark, sour cream & herbs.

Add a few traditional sides for the table — Hungarian cucumber salad, house-pickled vegetables, smoked beetroot relish and Hungarian potato salad.

And definitely save room for dessert — Sour Cherry & Poppyseed Crêpes or a slice of classic Dobos Torte, layered with chocolate buttercream and crisp caramel. ❤️

Join us for an evening inspired by the rich flavours, colours and hospitality of North Africa, with a menu of warming tagines, vibrant mezze, fragrant spices and delicious desserts, all created by our kitchen for one night only.

Adding something a little extra to the evening, our own Belinda McKenzie will be exhibiting a selection of beautiful photographs from her travels through Morocco.

Wander through the blue streets of Chefchaouen, soak up the atmosphere of Morocco, and enjoy dinner inspired by the journey.
