In 2018, Amelia Franklin, Gina DiBrita, Vilma D’Aprano and Susan Castle signed the legal paperwork to form the Australia Chapter of International Women’s Coffee Alliance.

Women face multiple challenges in the coffee value chain, including underrepresentation in leadership roles, leading to limited opportunities for growth. IWCA is uniquely poised to provide a leadership role to address some of these challenges through education and advocacy to ensure an equitable coffee industry.

The theme of is Give to Get, refers to the concept of creating mutual value through generosity, the spirit of volunteering, mentoring and handing knowledge down to the next generation is encompassed by the work that IWCA does globally for women through the whole coffee value chain.

Amelia Franklin has volunteered innumerable hours, serves as President and is a current Board Advisor. Contact to get involved in the year ahead. Men welcomed also, we are all in this together ✨

Thanks Bello Youth Hub for this acknowledgment, we really appreciate having this opportunity to share our knowledge and give fair access to all.

Huge shoutout to amelia + toby, for supporting our young people at the Bello Youth Hub to achieve basic training in their barista course! They have successfully trained seven of our young people, their generosity and support has been greatly appreciated.

Our first Barista Training ran this week in the new space, while our HQ is not yet open to the public for coffee in a cup, 💥💥our training space is now open 💥💥

Libby reached out a couple weeks ago and gave us a much appreciated dead line for Gary’s Birthday, Happy Birthday Gary 🥳 we had such a fabulous time. And Libby gave us a wonderful unsolicited review, which explains where we are at, so I have included it in the photo’s.

The next course is this Thursday Barista Foundation and it is our basic barista course. Come along if you can and feel free to reach out if the times doesn’t work and we will see if we can wrangle a time which works for all.

Our next Barista Foundation Under 18 will be on the Friday 14th of November 🙌

The first one was a success thanks to Kaitlin from Connect Northern Rivers and Bello Youth Hub.

Employers are encouraged to contribute to the cost of training, most workplaces do not have the time to give one on one tuition, training is an essential part of retaining skilled workers.

To make it sustainable we need two full paying student per course, there are five places available per course, any extra funds will be rolled into future barista training for the community.

There are free places available for Connect Northern Rivers and Bello Youth Hub kids.

We will be launching our all ages Basic Barista and Milk Texturing and Latte Art courses shortly and a range of fun home barista, coffee cupping and brew courses. 🎉
