Today is , yet at the MJF Foundation, we believe in the power of books and reading for both children and adults everyday.

Many of our 600,000 direct and indirect beneficiaries, have limited access to books and reading due to poverty, logistical inaccessibility and disability.

With every cup of Dilmah tea, our MJF Foundation has been able to bring the joy of books to many - the littlest preschooler in the town, to the 75-year-old who is unable to travel to a library to pick up a novel, to the disabled child looking forward to a fun book reading session.

to when Dilhan and Amrit Fernando, second and third generation of the Dilmah family, came together for something that had never been done before.

An extraordinary, thoughtfully crafted tea-inspired Omakase. Good friend and Dilmah Ambassador Chef Andrea Ferrero presented dishes of flavour, craftsmanship and inspiration - in Omakase style. Highlighting local ingredients including Ceylon Cinnamon, each aroma, each carefully considered pairing, each glass poured sparked a deeper passion for the art of tea.

On this table, with his own hand, our Founder Merrill J. Fernando, wrote the word ‘Dilmah’ for his brand of single-origin Ceylon teas. It signified so much; coined from the names of his two sons, Dilhan and Malik, and ingrained with a mission to make business a matter of human service.

This valued table was recently restored with care and respect, knowing it carries more than wood and time; it carries beginnings and futures. Today, it returns to its rightful place in our Dilmah Chairman’s office, ready to witness new chapters and a legacy passed from one generation to the next.

In this special moment, we remember where Dilmah comes from; from family, from purpose, from the heart.
