Who is ?

Cesar Orta is a ukulele enthusiast who shares his love of the ukulele wherever he goes. Active member of a social ukulele learning community in Dubai since 2017. When he moved to Abu Dhabi Tuckshop was excited to host the fortnightly jam sessions.

This Sunday is Cesar’s last ukulele jam session before his move to Texas. Please join us for a social evening of music.

Big shout out and thank you to .matt for entrusting Tuckshop with his Mum’s collection of Anzac biscuit tins. Tuckshop is privileged to be part of the tin’s journey.

What is an Anzac Bikkie?
A biscuit made from oats, coconut, golden syrup, butter and eaten all year round especially on Anzac Day.

Monica herself will guide you through a ‘build your own’ winter scene. Have fun assembling and decorating a gingerbread house accessorised with Christmas trees, candy-canes and gingerbread people.

Young Entrepreneurs Market returns to Tuckshop with a fun Christmas addition. Friday 8th December from 4-6pm.

Artists and artisans aged between 11-14 years old will be selling jewellery, candles, accessories, stickers and art. An impressive group from a number of Abu Dhabi schools.

The event will also host an open mic for youth aged 11-16 years. DM to register.

When you think of Emirati local crafts it is unlikely you picture a 6’6’’ American man weaving to his heart’s content. Neither did I untiI met Mike Metzger, a sustainability and heritage skills instructor. His interests in traditional crafts, camels and the Bedouin culture brought him here to the UAE 10 years ago.

Now he shares his love for Emirati traditional heritage by leading workshops for the Sharjah Art Foundation, the Deptartment of Tourism & Culture, and the Abu Dhabi Environmental Agency.

Pop by Tuckshop this Sunday and chat to Mike about his story as he leads fortnightly khoos khoosusi (special palm) weaving workshops.

are food scrap rescuers and soil builders. This years’ tuckshop pumpkin carving workshop by was a co-collaboration with who collected all pumpkin scraps and post-loved jack-o-lanterns for composting at their farm land. The Waste Lab produced an impact report outlining the number of kilos of food scraps collected, C02 emissions prevented and their equivalence in terms of fuel not consumed, kilometres not driven and smartphones not charged. Did we make a difference? I think you’ll find that the proof is in the compost.

Fruit carving extraordinaires are back for their annual Pumpkin Carving Workshop. And because both Tuckshop and Fruitful Day love a good collab, this year Dubai's bins will be making a cameo appearance. The Waste Lab’s collaboration in this year’s event means that all pumpkin waste collected will be composted and an impact report will calculate how much we saved from ending up in landfill and what it means in terms of reducing our CO2 emissions.
